Chazy & Westport
Telephone Corporation was incorporated in the State of New York in
1905. Since then, we have
served our franchised area of Altona, Moores, Champlain,
Elizabethtown, Lewis, Scotia, Wadhams, and all the towns of Chazy,
West Chazy and Westport.

Corporation that we are proud of.
1941 First digital offices in the North Country were
installed in Chazy and West Chazy.
1952
Gerald R. Forcier purchased Westport, Essex and Lewis Telephone
Co.
1958
Westport installs one of the first digital offices in Essex
County.
1959 Westport
Telephone Company purchases Chazy Telephone Company, alas the
name Chazy & Westport Telephone Corporation came to be.
1968
The Chazy dial offices were replaced.
1972
We were one of the first in the North Country to start offering
touch-tone service and direct distance dialing without operator
assistance.
1981
The first Digital Central Office in the North Country was
installed in Chazy and West Chazy.
1981
Westelcom, a full service interconnect, was formed to provide
customers in our franchised area and in the surrounding North Country
with the communication needs of our growing environment to include key
systems, voice mail, and Internet service.
1984 Westport became the first digital office to make
Chazy & Westport Telephone Corp. the first Telco with more than
one fully digital central office in New York State.
1993
The Chazy and Westport Central Offices were updated to
accept modern and future technologies such as SS7 and CLASS features
like Caller ID. This
change positioned the company to assure that we provide our customers
with the most up-to-date, state of the art technology.
1994
First digital, high-speed videoconferencing system in the
North Country was installed in the Chazy and Westport offices.
1996
Chazy & Westport Telephone offers direct Internet
Access to the North Country.
1997 Chazy
& Westport Telephone purchases Mr. Computer, a retail computer
business, and renames it
Westelcom Computer.
2000
Chazy & Westport Telephone offers Long Distance Service
and High Speed Internet Access,
two major innovations implemented to keep the community level with the
growing Telecommunications
industry.
2001
Westelcom Family of Companies acquires NorthNet and Gisco, two
big Internet Service Providers
in the North Country.
